Google announced a recent algorithm change that is intented to give less value to domain names that are used strictly for keyword gains vs. actual branding. This “levels the playing field” for a lot of users of SEO. For clients that have keyword specific domains, we have confirmed that no one seems to have been effected by this update. This would be due to building up a strong foundation of diversity in your SEO campaign. That way your success is not overly-associated to one variable or another.

While this may not have any impact on your internet presence today, it is good to keep in the back of your mind for future projects of spinoffs of your business that you may be considering. The majority of the internet marketing industry tends to recommend “brandable” domains over keyword specific domains. You can hear it from the mouth of Matt Cutts from Google himself in this video.
